Forever Rejoicing

1 Thessalonians 5:16
“Rejoice always”

All Christians should desire to have the will of God manifest in every aspect of their lives. Scripture teaches that part of our walk with Christ is subjecting ourselves to the will of God as we trust in Him and His plan. And in 1 Thessalonians, Chapter 5, we are taught three specific characteristics of a Christian walking in the will of God, the first being to rejoice always.

This means to rejoice in all circumstances, whether good or bad. It can be so easy to become sidetracked by our relentless emotions. However, regardless of what our circumstances seem to warrant, God’s will is for His people to rejoice. Our joy cannot be rooted in our circumstances, for they are always changing. Instead, it is imperative that our joy be rooted in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, for He remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.  I desire for us all to recognize that we can rejoice always because we rejoice in the God who never changes.

Therefore, I challenge us to develop the same mindset of the psalmist in 118:24. “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” The Devil may attack, but I will rejoice always. The news may not be positive, but I will rejoice always. Life may be chaotic, but I will rejoice always. Yesterday may have been a rough day, tomorrow has its own worries, but today, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Rejoice always, for this is God’s will for you!
