Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
Our thoughts have a direct influence on our behavior. They can drive us forward or hold us back depending on their nature and the Devil is keenly aware of this. He will do anything in his power to deceive, discourage, and distract God’s people, aiming to drive up negative emotions such as anger or anxiety.
However, it is imperative to acknowledge that Satan has no authority over our minds. We are instructed to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and it is the Holy Spirit who empowers us to do this. With His help, we can bring every thought under submission to the truth of God’s word. For Satan is the father of all lies, but our God, is the God of all truth.
So what does this look like practically? When Satan says it’s all going to fall apart, we remind him that our God is working all things out for our good. When he threatens our health, we remind him that our God is our healer. When he motivates anxiety, we choose to cast all your cares upon Jesus for He cares for us. May we be empowered today to think thoughts of love over hatred, peace over anxiety, and victory over defeat. Let us think like Christians!
